Also called the Coast Cottonwood or Cotton Tree, the scientific name is Hibiscus tiliaceus.The habit is that of a "bushy tree", growing to a height of about 10 metres, but spreading to around 16 metres.
The flowers are 5 petaled, yellow in colour with a maroon throat. Flowering occurs during summer.
These trees are naturally occurring on the coastal sand dunes of Queensland.
