I am not a photographer, however, the detail and light and shade in your in your shots really brings the subjects to life. They make you realize what a wonderful creator we have to make such beautiful creatures and you must have such patience to capture such detail.

Thank you Fran, I appreciate such a friendly comment :) Many times I have asked myself why Mother Nature makes things so beautiful, when she could just as easily do the opposite. The answer is, I think, in the way we see things :)

Black Fronted Dotterel




These birds (Elseyornis melanops) are a delight to watch, scurrying around the waters edge. They run quite fast for short distances, then stop for a quick look for food, and off again.

If they think that they have been seen, they will run away and stop with their back to the intruder. Maybe this is done to conceal the red eye ring and red bill.

Only tiny birds at around 17cm (7") from tip to tail, this one was photographed at Rosser Park, on the Gold Coast.
