When the tide is out, and the sand exposed, wading birds can often be seen catching their food around the water's edge. Often the sand has lots of hollows and mounds in it, which is a result of stingrays fanning the sand out with their wings, to expose things to eat.
If ever the Cruise Ship Terminal gets to green light to be built, then this beautiful bay will be gone. Lots of infrastructure is needed to support a terminal, and this is where it will go. Of course it would only be needed on the odd occasion a ship called in, and the rest of the time it would be idle and locked up.

"Bum's Bay" is an unofficial name given to this lovely little bay. The locals call it that, because the boaties who drop anchor here don't have to pay for the privilege, it's free. The only requirements are to find an empty spot and drop anchor, then after enjoying the surroundings for 7 days, move on.
How good is the PR for the Gold Coast, when boaties from around the world tell other boaties about the relaxed way of life here.
