The sculpture is titled "Sun Spirit", and is by Frank Miles.

In the sand dunes at Currumbin Beach, beside an access track, is set this attractive and
life-like bronze sculpture. It definitely adds beauty and interest to the walk to the beach.

Sculptor Frank Miles was born in Zimbabwe in 1946, lived in the Unites States for a
period, and with his family, settled in Australia and in 2004 became an Australian citizen .

I, too, think the poem is a 'hoot'. Wonderful photography as always, and now a poet - and I didn't know it:)
A fabulous site to explore. Good luck with this exciting journey. Cat

Sun Spirit

The weekend's come
when I was young
down the beach
to bathe in sun

We chose our spot
the towels laid down
and at one end
sandy pillow mound

And for a tan
we smeared the oil
laid out spread
to slowly broil

On elbow leaning
one hand cupped
a menthol ciggy
with pleasure puffed

And from the tranny
Buddy Holly did blare
as bikinis swayed by
us guys did stare

Our hue did change
as the hours past
the skin did feel
like a furnace blast

We gathered our things
and off we trod
covered in sand
to the old hot rod

That night we suffered
with red hot pain
but come next week
we're back again
